Our Curriculum

We operate an internationally enhanced British style education structured on three interconnected components,

1. Knowledge in Key Learning Areas
2. Generic skills
3. Values and Attitudes

• fluency in, and accurate use and understanding of, English;
• skill in numeracy; in problem-solving; and proficiency in mathematical and scientific methods and investigations;
• proficiency in at least one foreign language, with the opportunity to attain knowledge and understanding of at least one other foreign language;
• an appreciation of, and development of ability in, the creative and expressive arts;
• proficiency in the use of ICT;
• proficiency in the knowledge of concepts, issues and applications in History, Geography and Technology; a knowledge and appreciation of humankind, our heritage, human achievements and aspirations; and a concern for environmental and ecological issues;
• the development of the co-ordination of body and mind;
• a training in personal, inter-personal and social responsibility; the understanding and development of a respect for religious and moral values, for other people and, above all, for oneself;

• gives a range of choice to give a broad and balanced curriculum for Senior Year;
• offers the chance for students to study the three science subjects as separate disciplines at Senior Year;
• allows the possibility of one or more foreign languages being taken through to Senior Year;

The curriculum content and delivery is managed by Assessment Team, which is chaired by the Staff Coordinator in leading the team of staff, who meet to discuss issues affecting the curriculum and teaching and learning.

The syllabuses taught at Funtaj International School Ltd provide an integrated course of studies which lead to the following examinations:

Both sets of examinations usually begin in March and end in July. Certificates issued at the end of the examination period allow students to apply to both public and private Universities in Nigeria.

Examinations are set in February and qualifies candidates for Nigerian Universities

Year 11 students can sit these examinations in Oct / Nov to offset the examination load in Year 12. The examinations accredited by Cambridge International Examination Board. They give access to many world universities including those in the UK and USA.

This is an internationally recognised qualification showing proficiency in English is taken throughout Year 12 at various locations in Abuja. It is required for school, Colleges and Universities in the UK.
